The Institute of Integrated Information Systems (I3S) is strategically expanding its research activities, which means we need a dynamic professional with a world-leading research profile within the broad theme of wireless communications, who can demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.

In this high profile role you will develop and lead excellent research, innovation and impact at national and international levels and you will support our long-standing and successful MEng and MSc programmes in the very popular area of communications systems. You will be required to show leadership in reviewing and developing our provision, maintaining an outstanding student experience and ensuring innovative approaches to learning and teaching.

In a new venture, the School is planning to collaborate with the School of Computing to develop a new suite of programmes in the broad area of communications networks and distributed systems. You will play a major role in strategically developing strong links between the two Schools in both teaching and research.

Carrying out world-leading research and providing academic leadership and guidance, you will build research teams and make a major input to the strategic academic development and direction of the School. Your international profile will help attract high quality postgraduate research students to the University.

To do all of this successfully you should have a PhD or other doctorate in a relevant discipline or equivalent research experience and we will need you to evidence understanding of the principles of research-led teaching, and demonstrate a track record of integrating research with learning and teaching to deliver an excellent student experience. You will have an excellent research and publication track record and be able to show international links and evidence of effective engagement with, and influencing, research agendas.

Salary

The salary, which is negotiable, will be within the Professorial range - minimum £59,302 p.a.
