Closing Date: Wednesday 7th March 2012
Interview Date: Wednesday 2nd May 2012
The University of Leeds is seeking to develop its activity in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics. We recognise the importance of understanding all aspects of the atmosphere-ocean-climate system, and you will join a large, well-supported astrophysical and geophysical fluid dynamics group in the School of Mathematics. In this role you will interact with members of the School of Earth and Environment, which is a member of NERC's National Centre for Atmospheric Science, and has strong links with the Met Office.
You will have an international reputation in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, with research interests in atmospheric science, physical oceanography, or environmental fluid mechanics. We seek candidates with expertise in mathematical or numerical modelling, and with a successful track record in attracting research funding. You will provide academic leadership both by personal research and by the encouragement and stimulation of colleagues. You will be expected to contribute to, and develop, the existing MSc programme in Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics, and other appropriate modules in applied mathematics. You will inspire students through research-led teaching, which will translate your excellence in research and scholarship into learning opportunities for students.
Applications from women, who are currently under-represented in this area, will be particularly welcome. However, the final recruitment decision will be based solely on merit.
Salary
The salary, which is negotiable, will be within the Professorial range - minimum £59,302 p.a.
